Anthonie van Zijl

Anthonie van Zijl (1619-1671) was a Dutch Baroque painter. He was born in Haarlem and trained under Jacob Isaacsz. van Swanenburgh and Hendrik Goltzius. Van Zijl's work is characterized by his use of chiaroscuro, dramatic lighting, and ornate details. His subjects often included biblical scenes, allegorical figures, and mythological themes.
