Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres
Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres (1780-1867) was a French painter and neoclassicist. He is considered one of the greatest painters of his generation and a key figure in the development of neoclassicism. Ingres' style was characterized by precise draftsmanship, classical ideals, and an emphasis on formal beauty. He was a student of Jacques-Louis David and later became a prominent painter of historical and mythological subjects, including the famous "Napoleon on his Imperial Throne" (1806).
