Mary Cassatt

Mary Cassatt (1844-1926) was an American impressionist and realist painter. Born in Allegheny City, Pennsylvania, she moved to France at age 16 and became a naturalized French citizen. Known for her intimate portraits of women and children, Cassatt's work often explored themes of domesticity, motherhood, and the inner lives of her subjects. She was a member of the Impressionist circle, exhibiting alongside Claude Monet and Pierre-Auguste Renoir.
