Philip Guston
Philip Guston (1913-1980) was an American abstract expressionist and figurative artist. He began as a surrealist, then transitioned to abstract expressionism in the 1950s. His work often featured biomorphic forms, bold colors, and textured brushstrokes. Later, he incorporated figurative elements, such as cartoonish renderings of robots and hoodlums, into his paintings, exploring themes of politics, identity, and social commentary.
